I am McGorgeous

Before we started going out together, we were just chatting as two normal friends. And he started calling me 'gorgeous' one fine morning.

Yups, he sent me a text, something along the line of "Good morning gorgeous! Have an awesome day!".

And that's how he started calling me gorgeous and me, pingu. He uses the pingu as his msn avatar you see.

Digress a bit...I love love waking up to his sweet messages. I reckon it's a fantastic way to start an otherwise dull day. Yups, i am not a morning person at all.
.
.
.
.
.
So last week, we were both scrolling through his iPhone looking at the pix we took together, played some games together - which i lost :p, and we had nothing better to do than to rate some of the pick up lines from one those applications on his phone.

Well, most were really cheesy so to speak. But i found one which really caught my attention..

Carrie: Haha..so lame la the pick up line. Next.
Pingu: yeah, won't work.
Carrie: Oh..this one's quite cute. "If you were the new burger at McDonald's you would be the McGorgeous." Hun, I wanna be McGorgeous la! hehehe.
Pingu: You are McGorgeous.
Carrie: And you can be McPingu la then :P.

So yeah, I am McGorgeous and I read mags for a living. How do you do?

Deliriously so

i guess the fact that i've been missing in action for a while now is because i've been busy.
Yes, i've been busy burying myself in happiness.

In fact, i've been deliriously happy.

You know those feelings.....chatting on the phone for hours, butterflies in the stomach, having a silly grin plastered on my face wherever i go, feeling extremely awesome, etc...gosh, i feel like a teenager all over again, or something to that extent. :p

Sounds like i'm falling in love eh?

Oh well, i'm not gonna reveal too much.

I'm not gonna say his name even, well, let's just call him 'Pingu' <--that's our lil secret. :)

This is a cute lil pingu alrite ;)

Busy sprinkling some love around here.

Today...I said 'thank you'

I never realised there are so many things I've taken for granted.

I never realised how blessed I am to have such loving parents.

I never realised at all.....

Yups, all these came to mind when I was having a shower just now. The conversation I had with a new staff during lunch came flashing in my head. She's a very nice girl who's just joined the company for a couple of weeks. You know the type - fresh grad, very sweet and timid.

Over lunch, she asked me all sorts of questions about my experiences and she was interested to pick up skills like networking, pr, public speaking, etc. She wanted to build up her confidence during this period.

Then it came to a part where she asked what my hobbies are. She also asked me if i played the piano. When i said 'yes', she got all excited and said, "Oh..then i'd love to go your house. I like pianos and i've always envied ppl who can play piano."

My reply was simple, "Oh, then don't you wanna learn?". And she said, "My mother never allowed us to learn".

For a while, I couldn't register that statement. It never occured to me that there are parents out there who do not allow their children to learn things they are interested in. And I realised how lucky i was.

When I was a kid, I never liked going for piano lessons, mainly because my teacher used to hit my hand with a ruler if I didn't cut my nails. I hated the constant drilling before a piano exam. I guess i hated the hours i had to spend practising and practising my pieces.

So, there was a time when dad and mum told me I could stop after sitting for my grade 1 theory and practical exams. And I was so thrilled.

Next thing I knew, I scored full marks for both exams. From then on, they managed to coax me into continuing. Believe me, I felt as if i was conned into it.

Now that I look back, I'm so glad they insisted on me continuing. I cannot imagine not having the skills to play songs i like when i feel like releasing my stress after a tiring day at work. I cannot imagine not being able to have my very own private time stroking the keys on my piano, singing my heart out.

I felt bad for thinking my parents forced me into something i didn't like at the time.

.

.

.

.

During dinner with dad last night, I said thank you to him. He was surprised of course, and asked me why. I told him I'm thankful that he's always been so supportive and liberal in allowing us to do the things we like. I then told him about my colleague. He in return, gave me a warm smile which melted my heart.

It feels so good to express my feelings to him. Unfortunately in our conservative Asian culture, it's not everyday that we have heart-to-heart talks with our parents and tell them we love them. But i believe it can be done if we let down our emotional barriers. :)

So, have you told your loved ones how you feel today?

However, do check out this write up in
The Star

Oooh..also, check out Kenny Sia's Susan Boy post.

Sequel coming up pretty soon.

I’m a Standout in Life!

There’s this party organised by Nuffnang which I’m really keen on attending.

What is it?
It’s the ultimate Standout With Tiger & Nuffnang Party, a place where outstanding people get together to celebrate their uniqueness. Yups, party invites are only given to invited bloggers (limited to the 1st 100 entries) who are outstanding in their own ways. In order to get the invites, bloggers will have to blog about just how outstanding they are.

So….where shall I start?
What’s so outstanding about me that I can blog about?
ERm….can I lick my own elbow? Nope.
Can I do a split in the air while eating a packet of Chipsters?
Hell No.

At the risk of sounding like I’m blowing my own horns, I decided to pick the brains of my friends to see what they have to say about me.

These are some of their feedback:

1) I’ve had no basic dance training, but I can dance pretty well. I do hiphop, belly dance and latin dance.

~*~*Msn conversation with Kel*~*~

Carrie says: Wei kel.. wat makes me outstanding?
₪ says: your personality
Carrie says: I need to write a post to win an entry for this tiger/nuffnang event. U gotta be more specific la..Stuff like i can lick my elbow…some kinda talent
₪ says: Hahah. u can dance like a princess and dine like a queen
Carrie says: Hahaha. thanks..dance like a princess? doesnt sound good eh?
₪ says: erm dance like a fox? keke
Carrie says: hahahahaha siaoness
₪ says: what event is it?
Carrie says: it's a nuffnang + tiger event.. go to www.nuffnang.com.my/standout
check it out
₪ says: omg blogger explosion
Carrie says: hahaha. yeah, wanna go or not? but its by invite only la
₪ says: i got no blog
Carrie says: i will get 2 tix mah. if i get the invites u can come wif me la. dat is if my entry jadi la

Took this during my very first belly dance performance for Celebrity Fitness Bangsar's 2nd anniversary party.

With my favourite dance instructor Tomas Mendez during our Halloween themed dance party.

I was dressed as the Corpse Bride.

The entire class enjoyed a fantastic ghoulish choreograph by Tomas and Baby G. Posing after the dance.

2) I am creative, and love to make things beautiful. Ahhh..it seems I am comfortable in my own skin too.

This is what my best bud, C* said,
"Your creativity, Ven (btw, Ven is my Chinese name). That's really outstanding. Whether it's a sense of style, eagerness to always make everything beautiful....Besides, you have the confidence to be who you are, are comfortable in the limelight. It takes someone who is really creative and confident to do that. Not any tom, dick or harry would be able to pull it off. "

The very first batch of cupcakes I baked and decorated. These are Xmas tree cupcakes which I made for my colleagues during Xmas.

I designed these boxes for ease of transportation and to avoid smudging my labour of love.

I love performing. In fact, I performed or somehow get dragged on stage every single year during company functions.

I was dressed as a modern Snow White for my group's act last year. We won the 2nd prize.

Snow White and the wicked witch.

Dancing with the seven dwarfs..all taller than me! How ironic! :P

3) I’m a risk taker, who’s not afraid to follow my instincts.

C* reminded me of what I’ve done a couple of years back. I actually left my comfort zone of working in the corporate world to go into the fashion/retail industry. I took a huge paycut as my experience in the high-end fashion industry was not sufficient enough. Also, I had to adapt to the long hours at the shop (the first few months was mainly operation work for me at the outlets eventhough I was recruited to be in Management and doing the buying of the clothings in France). It was hell working 10am – 10opm, made worse with no internet access - I was having msn withdrawal :p.

According to C*, it was something that most of us at that age would not do – switch industry, and/or have a drastic change in job. Well, I’m no longer in the fashion retail line and I’m now back to where I belong. However, I’ve started my own online fashion blog, which keeps my passion for fashion alive.

4) I'm known as 'The girl with 4 cute shihtzus'
Enough said about my love for animals. How many girls you know have 4 shihtzus? Now, that's quite outstanding eh?

With Cocoa Chanel - my very first doggie. To tell you the truth, I was really afraid of dogs before getting her.

With Babelicious aka Bebe aka CJay

The 4 monsters at home really light up my life.

Well, let's hope that I'm still eligible to get my hands on the event tix.

Anyway, here are the details of the event:
Date: 6 June 2009 (Saturday)
Time: 7pm till late
Venue: HQnine, Plaza TTDI
Dresscode: Standout

Letting go ...and letting God

Last night during the Good Friday service, something in me snapped.

I've realised and accepted the fact that I shouldn't have tried to take control of situations beyond my control. It's time to rest and let go.

Sigh, holding on to it has been a very exhaustive process.

~*~*~*Psa 23*~*~*~

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not be in want (I lack nothing)
He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters
He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.

*******

It feels so good to not struggle anymore....aaah..finally..

From today onwards, I shall let go..and let God!

Amen!

Oh so Lame!

Pick up lines these days can be so cheesy and lame (oh, since when are they not anyway?!).

Bamboo9 in Plaza TTDI is now the frequent hang out place for me and some of Chef’s friends, M* and CR*. Both M* and CR* are very fun and crazy women to hang out with.

And since we’re there like almost every week (on either Wed/Thu/Fri) we’ve made a couple of friends with some of the regulars there, namely K*, T* and their mates.

Last night was just another one of those nights. M* has invited her cousin (and his friends), 2 doctors, and informed K* and T* that we’ll be going to Bamboo9. As usual, our table was covered with booze, a bottomless one to boot.

What I found really funny was that there’s this rather cheesy pick up line which the guys employ, thinking that they’re actually flattering us without trying too hard.

So wrong.

T* said these lines to me a couple of times throughout the night.

T: Carrie, what perfume are you using? I love the smell on it (T proceeded to come very close to me, attempting to smell my neck, with me backing away)
C: Ughh..I’ve been here since 9pm and I’ve been drinking since then..i suppose it’s the beer. Here, you can try it too..i bet you’ll smell even nicer than me (me attempting to pour beer on him :P).

Sometime later..

T: Carrie, I really love the way you smell. What do you use la?
C: It’s ciggy smell la T* :p (Me thinking that his flattery won’t go anywhere. And I didn’t feel like telling him that it was Pleasures Delight).

Before leaving, while saying bye to T*, he came over to me, saying that he wanted to smell me one last time, so that he could download the smell into the hard disk in his memory.

How lame is that?

Anyway, while we were leaving both M* and CR* were bitching about how lame the doctors were. They both were also complimented on the way they smelled by the dodgy doctors.

One doctor told M* that she smells really good and other stuff which I can’t remember now cos I was having a headache by the time we were leaving.
The same doctor leaned very close to CR* and asked her, “Are you wearing the same perfume as last time? Gucci? Mmmm”.

The other one, well, I’m not gonna indulge you with too much info..let’s just say he’s dodgy la. And not so original.

No wonder they’re both still single. And so desperate.
We have since removed them from our list. :P

All in, I think we’ve got at least 4-5 different guys using the “you smell good” pick up line.

A bit sad and unoriginal, don’t you think?

Guys, if you’re reading this…can you pleeeeeeease improvise?

Oil pulling

Hi folks, I just wanted to share this new found method of detoxifying which a friend, S* has forwarded to me via email.

I've tried it for a couple of days.
Amazingly, everytime I 'oil pull', there's bound to be some filmy-mucousy-type-thingy coming out of my throat.

Yeah i know, it's gross..but at the same time it makes me feel good knowing that i'm ridding myself of some toxins from my system.

Here's the article...

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Oil Pulling for a Brighter Smile and Better Health
by Dr. Bruce Fife,
Coconut Research Center.org, Healthy Ways Newsletter

"That sounds ridiculous," exclaimed Rick in disbelief. "It will never work. How could it? It doesn't make any sense."
Rick suffered from chronic sinusitis. At night when lying down, his nose would stop up, making it difficult for him to breathe and to sleep.. The congestion also caused him to experience frequent headaches..

The therapy I was telling him about was oil pulling. Although oil pulling has its origins in Ayurvedic medicine, which dates back thousands of years, this modern version is relatively new, at least in the United States.

Oil pulling is very simple. Basically all you do is rinse your mouth out with vegetable oil, much like you would with a mouthwash.
As simple as it sounds, if done correctly it has a very powerful cleansing and healing affect not only on the mouth and sinuses, but the entire body.

A few days later, Rick called me on the phone. "Wow! This oil pulling stuff really works," he exclaimed. "My sinuses began to drain immediately. I expelled a lot of dark yellow, gross looking mucous.. I'm breathing easier and sleeping better and my headaches are gone!"

I wasn't surprised with Rick's success. I hear many similar responses from others with various health problems..

"I was skeptical at first," says Cynthia. "I couldn't see how swishing oil in my mouth could help with my arthritis. After eight days I noticed the pain in my hands diminished considerably. There was also marked improvement in my neck and I could move my head from side to side without any pain. I was amazed at how quickly I got results. I haven't felt this good in along time!"

Some people think I'm crazy when I tell them that oil pulling can help those with asthma, allergies, chronic fatigue, diabetes, migraine headaches, PMS, and chronic skin problems. Oil pulling works by detoxifying or cleansing the body. In this way, disease promoting toxins are removed, thus allowing the body to heal itself.. As a consequence, health problems of all types improve.

"I've suffered for several years with joint and lower back pain," says Anna... "Every morning it was difficult getting out of bed because of the pain. After two months of oil pulling the pain is all but gone. I'm amazed. Although I began oil pulling to relieve the joint pain, a few other things happened that I didn't expect. I'm surprised to see that the eczema on my arm and hand disappearing and my skin becoming smoother and softer. Nothing I had tried before had helped. I sleep better at night too, so I have more energy during the day. I no longer need my mid-day naps. I have so much energy I almost feel like a teenager again. My periods have become more regular with less cramping and less mood swings. Also, my teeth, gums, and tongue are cleaner than they've ever been."

The first thing that most people notice when they start oil pulling is an improvement in their oral health. Teeth become whiter, breath becomes fresher, and the tongue and gums take on a healthy pink color. Even problems such as bleeding gums, tooth decay, and gum disease are greatly diminished or completely healed.

"I had a really bad infection in my mouth," says Brittany. "It was so painful that I could not sleep. Pain medication helped temporarily. I was sure that I needed another root canal. After hearing about oil pulling I decided to give it a try before going to the dentist. I began oil pulling three times a day. By the very next day the pain was gone! No soreness, nothing.. I was shocked.

I continue to oil pull and my teeth are whiter and healthier looking then they have ever been. My gums have stopped bleeding, they used to bleed after every brushing. They are no longer receding and my teeth feel tighter. On my last visit to the dentist he was amazed at how much better my teeth and gums looked. He told me to continue to do whatever I was doing."

Oil pulling traces it roots to oil gargling practiced in Ayurvedic
medicine. Oil pulling as we know it today, was introduced in 1992 by Dr. F. Karach, MD.

Dr. Karach claimed that oil pulling could cure a variety of illnesses ranging from heart disease and digestive troubles to hormonal disorders. He said it cured him of a chronic blood disorder of 15 years duration and within three days it cured his arthritis, which at times was so painful he was bed ridden. He used the method in his medical practice with great success.

Dr. Karach's method of oil pulling consists of swishing, not gargling, vegetable oil in the mouth. The oil is "worked" in the mouth by pushing, pulling, and drawing it through the teeth for a period of 15 to 20 minutes. It is done one to three times a day on an empty stomach. The best time is in the morning before eating breakfast, but can be done before any meal. The used oil is discarded and the mouth rinsed out with water. The oil is never swallowed because it is loaded with bacteria, toxins, pus, and mucous.

Sunflower and sesame seed oils are the most commonly used for oil pulling, but any vegetable oil will work. People have had success with olive, coconut, almond, and other oils. I prefer to use coconut oil because of its many health benefits. If you use a mild flavored coconut oil it is very pleasant in the mouth. Some oils, such as extra virgin olive oil, are so strong flavored that many people find them difficult to use.

The oil acts like a cleanser. When you put it in your mouth and work it around your teeth and gums it "pulls" out bacteria and other debris. It acts much like the oil you put in your car engine. The oil picks up dirt and grime. When you drain the oil, it pulls out the dirt and grime with it, leaving the engine relatively clean.. Consequently, the engine runs smoother and lasts longer. Likewise, when we expel harmful substances from our bodies our health is improved and we run smoother and last longer.

As simple as it is, oil pulling has a very powerful detoxifying effect. Our mouths are the home to billions of bacteria, viruses, fungi and other parasites and their toxins. Candida and Streptococcus are common residents in our mouths. It is these types of germs and their toxic waste products that cause gum disease and tooth decay and contribute to many other health problems including arthritis and heart disease. Our immune system is constantly fighting these troublemakers. If our immune system becomes overloaded or burdened by excessive stress, poor diet, environmental toxins and such, these organisms can spread throughout the body causing secondary infections and chronic inflammation, leading to any number of health problems.

Oil pulling is one of the most remarkable methods of detoxification and healing I have ever experienced in my career as a naturopathic physician. It helped me overcome a chronic skin problem that other forms of detoxification, including numerous juice fasts lasting up to 30 days, were unable to cure.

Oil pulling can work its magic almost instantly.. Some people report relief from certain conditions after doing it only once. Minor problems often clear up within a few days. More serious, chronic problems may require a few weeks or several months or more depending on lifestyle issues.

Toxins are pulled from the body the very first time you try it. One of the first cleansing symptoms you will experience is an increased flow of mucous from your throat and sinuses. Mucous drainage is one of the body's methods of removing toxins. While you are pulling, mucous may build in the back of your throat. You may even have to expel the oil and clear the mucous from your throat before reaching a full 20 minutes.

That's okay, take another spoonful of oil and continue until you've pulled for a total of 15-20 minutes. You may also experience a little nausea and perhaps even need to vomit as your body expels toxic waste. Other symptoms may also arise temporarily. These symptoms will subside as your body becomes cleaner and you become more comfortable with oil pulling.

Unlike other methods of detoxification that last for only a short time, oil pulling should become a regular part of your daily schedule, like brushing your teeth. Oil pulling is incredibly effective in brightening teeth, healing gums, preventing bad breath, quenching inflammation, and healing oral infections. It is also effective in treating many systemic conditions throughout the body.

As good as it is, the simple oil pulling method described in this article isn't always enough. Some people and some conditions require a little extra care. For this reason, I took oil pulling and developed it into a more complete, more effective method that I call Oil Pulling Therapy.

This program incorporates medicated coconut oil (which you can make yourself), diet, select nutrients, oral pH balancing procedures, and, for those who have amalgam (mercury) fillings or metal crowns, a detox procedure designed specifically for removing heavy metals, all of which combine to greatly enhance the effects and healing properties of oil pulling.

The details of this program are covered in my new book Oil Pulling Therapy: Detoxifying and Healing the Body Through Oral Cleansing..

Oil pulling is cheap; the only expense is for the oil you use... It is very easy; you simply swish oil in your mouth. Compared to other forms of detoxification it is relatively effortless. It doesn't require dieting, fasting, or consuming unpleasant, and often bowel loosening, mixes of herbs and pills. And it is completely harmless. All you are doing is rinsing your mouth out with vegetable oil¡Âªa food. You're not even swallowing the oil. What can be more benign than that? Nearly anyone can do it, regardless of their level of health. If you have health issues, don't let the simplicity of oil pulling detour you from trying it. Sometimes the simplest procedures produce the greatest results.

I'm not sure if it works, but hey, it's worth a try eh?

To MSN with LOVE

I was on the phone recently with CS and he was like, “So, how are you? You okay or not? How’s the relationship with Chef?”

All these questions started flying in and I was like, “Whoa..How did he know that I’m not feeling too good la?”

True enough, I was having a rough patch with Chef. Got some issues la. (Now, that will warrant another post altogether. BUT don’t count on me writing about it here…There are too many dodgy spies lurking around my blog, which scares the shit out of me sometimes).

Well, back to our conversation..

Carrie: Eh, boy how you know wan?
CS: Eh, your msn profile message says it all what.

Oops, you mean, it was written all over msn? And I was that transparent???

Quick, what have I typed on my msn profile recently? *think think think*

Currently, it says “Perpetual headache
Prior to that, it was “We’re not on the same page, you know?
Before that, it was “We should just start anew, dun cha think?

Hmm..

It goes without saying that in our wireless age these days, the best and fastest form of communication is the internet. And msn messenger is like the place where your friends get first hand information about your emotional state – whether you’re feeling emo, agro, docile or simply complacent. Heck, when we post a profile message, a big chunk of it would be linked with either:

a) the current Relationship status – “Thanks for the Valentine’s day roses Dan! Love you to bits!”
b) Work – “Arghh.. my slave driver boss is driving me crazy!”
c) Others with include our day-to-day updates –
"No carbs for a month. This is day two! :("
“Brand new Sony Ericsson C902 anyone?” – heck, it even serves as a fantastic commercial ground, that's altogether FOC to boot!
“Food poisoning :(”

I would sincerely like to thank the genius who invented msn messenger. I really have no clue what I’ll do without such convenience. Everything is at the tip of my fingers, a single click away. Isn’t this fantastic?

Just ONE question though, when it comes to openly revealing the state of your mind or emotions, will you or won’t you?

t.i.r.e.d but t.h.a.n.k.f.u.l

Many thanks to those of you who offered me your kind words during the recent trying time.

Most of you would have known by now that my daddy has been discharged from the hospital.

Thank God that he's recovering very well. :)

We're now in the midst of filing for an appeal case for our insurance claim. Yeah, it's pretty complicated and I do not wanna dwell into too much here. Tired, simply tired.

But all is well ya, so no worries, k?

However, i'll really appreciate if you could kindly include our request to pray for favour from the doctor to write a good recommendation letter that will positively influence our insurance claim. And that we'll be able to claim 100% of the medical bill back. Amen!

Thank you in advance dearie!

***********

On another note, i dunno why but i feel totally exhausted.

Christmas is around the corner but i can't feel the festive mood at all. I haven't the time to go shopping for pressies yet. Time to start soon :P

Been very very busy, so much so that i have missed out on quite a lot of stuff.

I, am however, looking forward to this short break this coming mon (ph). Am going for a short road trip to malacca on Sun.

Yups, the idea was thrown to me cos i've been pretty couped up lately.

"Time to de-stress," i was told.

Will catch up soon.

love xx

Birthday Planning...

The big 3-0 is only 2 days' away.

Everyone's been asking me how i'm feeling, and how i plan to celebrate.

The thing is...i seriously don't know.

Am I supposed to feel elated? Afterall, a year older means a year wiser right?

Anyhoo, age is just a number right?
I still feel very much 25 I tell ya.

But but but
...I'm kinda nervous about having to tick an entirely new box whenever I have to complete a form.

Imagine, instead of ticking the 25-29 box, I am now in the '3x' category. Uggh..

Hmm..not something that I want la.

Well, the only concrete plan I have at the moment is dinner with the family on Friday night. :)

We'll see what happens la..

Digressing...

My last day at work is next Friday, the 25th. My social calendar has been filled with lunch appointments with colleagues, all wanting to have lunch with me before I go off.
*so touched*

The only drawback is that I won't be able to spend as much time as possible with my usual lunch kakis (Christine, Sue-Ann, Alice) because of this.

I'm worried that I might not be able to say goodbye to all my close buddies properly before I leave.

Guys, I'll really really miss our lunch gossips during bubbletea la!

Time is really flying by so quickly...

Significant changes

There are 2 major things that I'm doing/have done this week.

Firstly, I went to Shawn's to cut off about 6 inches of my curls away. And re-permed my hair, though the length is not something I'm used to. But the length will do me good, I'm sick of the length of my long hair.

~*~*~*The hair cut*~*~*~

I initially had my appointment booked for Saturday, but I realised I'm not supposed to wet/wash my hair for 2 days after perming. So if I were to be immersed in water, my hair will be all wet(yes, I'll be baptised the next day).

Since Thursday was a public holiday, as soon as I woke up I called up Shawn Cutler. Initially I was told that Shawn was fully booked for the day (he's got 20+ clients that day), and that no way will they be able to squeeze me in. Thanks to the favour bestowed on me, Shawn agreed to fit me in without an appointment.

So i rushed over to Bangsar as soon as I've showered and had my breakfast.

Me with my new shorter hair length.

Right after perming. Gosh this reminds me of the typical big-hair-Datin-look.

Shorter, lighter and healthier hair. :)

Just after I've tapau-ed my lunch from d'lish. Quite kesian, I ate my takeaway in the car as I had to rush off to meet a friend, before going for my belly dance practice.

At d'lish cafe

By the time my hair was done, it was close to 5pm. And i was famished. I had a wild urge to buy all the cupcakes in d'lish just to satisfy my hunger pang.

Ended up taking away this choc cheese and raspberry cupcake and my favourite chicken avocado ciabatta. I was so hungry I could eat a horse i tell ya.

D'lish...Food for the impatient gourmet...

~*~*~*The Baptism*~*~*~

Secondly, I'll be going for my baptism this Easter Sunday, which is tomorrow. And I'm all excited about it.

Why the changes you ask?

My answer: Cos I'm turning the big 3-0 soon *shudder shudder*, and I thought I should do something significant. Something which I have total say over, which no one can dictate whatsoever.

I've known the Lord close to 5 years now, and since I've already been baptised in spirit, I thought it'd be a significant step for me to be baptised in water.

And Easter to me is always very special.

Back when I was an unbeliever, my birthdays used to fall on either Good Friday and Easter Sunday. It was like that for a long long time. However, recently Easter seems to fall in March.

I wonder when it'll fall around mid April again.

Isaiah 52:77 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to the city, "Your God reigns!"

By the grace of God, miracles fall like drops of healing rain from heaven....

Happy Easter to all!

Short talk - Election results

Just gonna keep this a short one. I've been doing loads of fire-fighting of late, therefore i feel the need to blog to off-load some of my stress.

Just wanna say how delighted I am over the recent GE results.
What an amazing one, don't you think?

Finally, the people have spoken! It's evident that we all want a change.

This is really a timely wake up call for those lazy bummers! Hehe..

Now that we've denied BN the 2/3 majority, I hope that major issues will be looked into. And no longer will it be a "all say but no action" thingy.

Let's hope for the best, okie?

My first general election....

It was a rather pleasant one actually.

I was at the school at 8:20am, was out by 8:35am. Was in the office by 8:50am (ya, gotta work today). Fast leh?

I can proudly say that this is the fastest government-related agenda I've ever attended.

To be honest, I'd expected a big crowd as this is my very first time. And I've heard many stories about the long queue.

As it was my first time voting, I blindly followed the ppl and queued up. Then someone from BN mentioned, "Kalau sudah tahu nombor saluran. Tak payah beratur. Boleh terus beratur di depan sana" ("If you knew which channel you're assigned to, you don't have to line up. You can proceed to the classes") .

Aiyo, say so la earlier!

This was the queue for Saluran 2. Mine queue at Saluran 3 was almost desserted, I was fourth in line. :)

Guess which party I rooted for? :P

What I wasn't too pleased....
I was told that they've scraped off the serial no on the ballot but I was so surprised that the serial no was still there!

WTF.

Why do they need the serial no? Not unless they wanna track who votes for what right?
So...Which party are you rooting for?

Casting your vote?

Their no-so-original tagline: Just change it!
But works!

It's time for us Malaysians to do our parts as Malaysians.

The General Election is drawing very near and I'm sure you can feel the "heat" everywhere. Election fever is everywhere!

I think he was trying to be really sarcastic about the whole BN thing.
Anyways, I personally believe that we can make a difference. Well, to at least create some sort of check and balance.

Every vote counts, so do your part and "menjalankan tanggungjawab anda sebagai rakyat Malaysia".

Malaysia boleh?!?!

Pre-wedding planning

Shuk's big day is drawing nearer and nearer. At this rate, it's more or less time to do a count down already.

It's exactly 4 more days to Saturday.
And even I....am...nervous :p

Yups, as I've mentioned before I was appointed the role of the emcee for the night.

Being a tad nervous, I invited a close friend (my ex-colleague, Chong Sern - whom I've co-emceed together before for another friend's wedding) to co-emcee with me (again), as Shuk couldn't find a guy who'd be a good emcee candidate for me.

Made plans to meet up with Chong Sern to run through our scripts together.

I've actually written one for us but I wanted to ensure that the flow's smooth and that we're both comfortable with the scripts.

Also, I invited the bride and groom to join us, so that they could listen to us practice as they know the itinerary best.

Met up with CS earlier as the bride and groom had to run some errands.
We hung out at Leo's Cafe in Taipan as this is where CS stays and I didn't wanna inconvenient him by asking him to go PJ.

It was 3pm and I was famished. Didn't get to have lunch as I've just had a filling done on my tooth and doc said to give it an hour's rest before I could eat.

Ordered the biggest pot of yee mee I could find to nurse my tummy.

We were soon joined by Shuk, Hsien Yu, and San.

They arrived as we were rehearsing our lines.

There were some last minute changes to the script. Instead of the entire conversation being in English, the bride has requested for a "Mandarin intro". CS will be doing the Mandarin intro and we'll resume the rest of our dialogues in English.

Oh btw, have I mentioned that CS speaks very good Mandarin? He pronounces every word properly and damn, he sounds really good too! He actually attended training classes for news broadcasting before. And I daresay he's a pro by my standard!

Yes CS, I'm saying all this out cos I'm so proud of ya! Don't be shy la! :P

Best friends 4eva!!!

San, Shuk, moi

Look at the bride and groom-to-be. They didn't look kancheong at all right? So calm and collected.

Psst..I just found out that HS is a lil worried about the games we cheemuis will play on him prior to him entering the house on the big day. Hehe!!! You better brace yourself HS! :P

Despite her wedding day being so close, she didn't give a damn and ordered Leo's signature french toast.

But guess what? The french toast looked kinda dodgy.

Compare Shuk's expression with Amber Chia's expression here.

Conclusion: Don't trust advertisements!

4 more days and counting!!

Lord, I need you...

I woke up this morning feeling better than usual as yesterday was a public holiday. Hence i did not have to work. Though some colleagues have been scheduled to work as we're open everyday now - peak period, you see.

So i count myself fortunate.
I have been having this perpetual headache forever. Ms Migraine and Mr Neckache/Shoulderache do not wanna leave me for some reasons.

I think i'll pop some painkillers to say goodbye to them.

Please help to pray for me. I need all the favours and blessings I can get to get through such trying times.

Lord, I can't do it on my own. I'm gonna rest and rely wholly on you as I now know that there are things that i cannot control. I give all my burdens unto You. Thank You for being here for me, my pillar of strength.
