Snow white ...

My 2 cents..

If you wanna be really popular/outstanding in a company that has over 1000+ employees, you really have to shine.

Participating in an annual company event such as the dinner & dance can really help if you have that in mind.

For the last 3 years' annual dinner, i was on stage.

First year - as a finalist for Best Dressed Female (had to do several rounds of catwalk and short acting with my fellow male partner), Second year - participated in a dance competition and emerged as winner, and finally the Third/Final year - participated in a play and came up second.

All these has garnered lots of (sometimes unnecessary) attention. It can be pretty embarrassing at times, but at the same time very flattering :)..especially when your friends showed their utmost support and tell you how much they loved your performance.

Well, these are some of the comments I received the following Monday after our performance during T*ylor'sWood over the weekend.

"Ooh Carrie everyone loves your Snow White character."
This came from someone from HR (all the way in the next block). She was so excited that
even her colleague who didn't attend (whom i'm not that close to) said she heard that my
character was a hit. Aren't i surprised?

"You are truly a Corrupted Snow White ;)"
This came from a very close friend, who knows me very well. :P You know who you are!

Someone whom i have never met before, came up to me, while i was queuing by the ATM
machine line. He tapped my shoulder and said..
"You are Carrie right? You played Snow White the other day? Great job. Hi, I am XXXXXX,
from XXXXX school. I thought your character would be very demure, but hey you were so
cool..and u danced very well - such a natural!"
As this came pretty much as a surprise, all I could mutter was "Thank you :)", after which it
was my turn to proceed to the ATM.
I asked, "How you know?"

"I saw the credits at the end" was his reply. "And I was just talking to the other guys a while ago about you."
He then proceeded to asking me out for lunch before walking off.

Weird? I then asked some of my team mates if they knew who this XXXXXX is and Steph told me that he came over to our table several times asking about the identity of the girl who played Snow White. FReaky!!

"Flirty snow white" <-- this was probably the most common comment I received.

"You danced very very well"..<--also very common.

Right after our performance some angmohs from the Canadian programmes came up to me, "Hey, you did very well. Very entertaining. We are voting for you!"

This came from a very high ranking PA, whom I deal with on and off.
I was telling her how difficult it was trying to ensure that all the big guns could attend an event that I'm organising in Nov. Shared that if there is any more last minute cancellation, I might just faint.
This was her reply..
"Aiyer, dun worry la. If they give you trouble, all you need to do is faint - Snow White style. And they'll definitely not deny you of anything you ask" :P

That, I totally didn't expect her to joke with me. :P

Our emcee for the night, Donna Daniels from Aussieland. She impressed us with her renditions of Hokkien and Bollywood songs. Great entertainment that woman. :)

Ocean's 11's Performance

Act 1 - Best Animation: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

p/s: the reason why that piece of cloth behind my butt was jutting out like a sore thumb is cos i had a mike hooked to my tutu/petticoat. Damn ugly.

"Sorry no apples for me. Psst..i heard they're poisnous"

The dying scene

You have to watch the video to see how i actually die. Okie, will upload to youtube soon.

Snow White resurrected when she was slapped by one of the dwarfs :p

Celebration dance to Low

Act 2 - Best Comedy: Shaolin Soccer

Act 3 - Best Action Movie: 300

We attacked the VIP table, but stopped midway. And we offered this as a peace offering.
"6 months bonus!" <--we got the crowd really crazy at this point in time! :)

Right after the performance

Me in my spartan costume. Very roughly worn as i had very little time to change into this.

And i realised i 4got to remove my choker and earrings. Those were the last things on my mind. All i wanted to do was to get into my costume.

Post performance

Realised i didn't take any solo pix of me in the Snow White costume. I promised my costume maker I'll take one for her. She practically made this from scratch for me and altered it to the max for me. (it's for rent, therefore, she had to make her costumes really huge).

Me, Remy and Theresa

The cool couple - Andrew + Theresa

Chun the Dracula with Theresa and I.

More camwhoring...

I couldn't wait to remove the poofy tutu from my dress. It makes my butt looks 300% bigger. :P

Andrew as Achilles (in his winter gear)

With Chef Patrick, dressed as himself

*stab* *stab* *stab*

Magali (Wonderwoman), me, Chun, Andrew, Theresa, and Eric

Going for the kill..

Chun drawing blood from the innocent Snow White.

This one is damn fake.
I couldn't help smiling the entire time :P. Lousy actress i am!

With Steph Ho

Almost couldn't recognise Li San in her cabaret costume.

More camwhoring..

With the 2 CSI agents - Ian and Jerry

We came in 2nd. :P

That's RM1500 among the 11 of us.

My cool friends - almost the entire Annual Dinner Committee

Rahul, Lauren, me, Eve, Theresa, Ling Fan, and Andrew

After everyone has left.

And..we're off to Euphoria, MOS for our after party.

Notice that my skirt is so much flatter now? Hehe..i removed the tutu as i was dumping my stuff into the car.

A very exhausted Snow White (try wearing a 3 inch heels running around the entire day!) with Chef Patrick in MOS.

Up next will be the videos and some comments from colleagues/friends. :)

Ocean's 11 @ T*ylor'swood 2008

Sorry i haven't been able to answer your questions regarding the annual dinner. Have been really caught up over the weekend.

Here goes..

Nope, we didn't win. :(

We were the 1st runner-up for So You Think You Can Act?

In total, there were 6 groups competing for the top prize of RM2500.

To be honest, many thought ours was more entertaining.

Anyhoo, i guess it's more about having fun.

Oops, i still haven't revealed what i was acting as eh??

Here's a sneak preview of my costume..

Disney Princesses!

Me as Snow White, and Angeline as Cinderella.

Nope, Angeline is from another team. There were 6 teams altogether.

However, our act is not just on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. We had a different concept for the play and instead we acted snippets of award winning movies/animations.

Am in the midst of compiling more pix. Will update later. ;)
