Ze movie - The Covenant

~*Ze movie - The Covenant*~
I've recently watched The Covenant at GSC. My 1st impression was "woah...these Ipswich boys are yummilicious!!" *drool drool drool*

The story goes like this....

In 1692, in the Ipswich Colony of Massachusetts, five families with untold power formed a covenant of silence. One family, lusting for more, was banished; their bloodline disappearing without a trace--until now. This thriller tells the story of the Sons of Ipswich, four young students at the elite Spencer Academy who are bound by their sacred ancestry. As descendants of the original families who settled in Ipswich Colony in the 1600's, the boys have all been born with special powers. When the body of a dead student is discovered after a party, secrets begin to unravel which threaten to break the covenant of silence that has protected their families for hundreds of years.

Get the gist? Okie, now lemme introduce the goodies to ya!

1st beefcake: Caleb Danvers (Steven Strait)

Goodness me, Steven Strait is GORGEOUS!

In this movie, he's Caleb Danver - the captain of the Spenser Academy's winning swim team as well as leader of the "Sons of Ipswich". Caleb is a star-student and two-time state freestyle champion, also one of the nicest guys in the group. However, he bears a heavy burden as the legacy of the Danvers family weighs heavily on him. He has seen the dark side of his burgeoning abilities up close (a secret he is reluctant for others to see) and their effects are terrifying. Now, as his 18th birthday approaches, he will soon "ascend" and his access to power beyond imagination will be more seductive than ever.

2nd beefcake: Chase Collins (Sebastian Stan) - The Bad Guy

Chase is the new guy in town, who quickly ingratiates himself into the group. He is actually the fifth descendent of the Sons of Ipswich and is back to threaten the group for everything that they have. Chase is addicted to supernatural powers and the only way he could obtain more is by forcing the other four boys to will their powers to him.

3rd beefcake: Pogue Perry (Taylor Kitsch)

Pogue is rude, rowdy and ready for anything. He's also the life and soul of any party. The only son of one of Ipswich's most prominent families, much is expected of him at Spenser. Though he's not a good student academically, he makes it up in other ways - being a loyal and uncompromising buddy no matter what happens.

4th beefcake: Reid Garwin (Toby Hemingway)

I think this picture didnt do him any justice at all. He looked way cooler in the movie. I like Reid's character, very devious + mischievous - sorta like the wild card in the group. Reid is a brazen lad who's out looking to stir trouble. So hot-headed, he just love pushing others' buttons, and if his antics lead to a fight, all the better. Unlike the rest of the group, Reid enjoys using his powers, and this makes Caleb worry as he knows how addictive that can be.

Final beefcake: Tyler Sims (Chace Crawford)

Tyler is the quietest in the group. A peacemaker who is uncomfortable with tension, he will go to any length to preserve the sanctity of the group.

My say on The Covenant?

The movie was really not that scary nor horrifying to the least. It sorta reminds me of high school romance with a bit of magic or witch crafts involved. At one point, one of the boys (Reid) was trying to perform a magical task and he said, "Harry Porter, kiss my ASS!!" Now, dat was the funny. LOL

Some pix from the movie...

Though the reviews werent that good, i did however enjoy myself thoroughly... Yeah, you should know better!

Ze month of great indulgence - Caryn's graduation

Ze month of great indulgence - Caryn's graduation

A week after Ed's birthday, it was time to celebrate my sister, Caryn's graduation.
She has just completed her Diploma in Advertising and Graphic Design from The One Academy (TOA). Whilst she was studying there, I was working as the Student Counsellor at TOA as well. And I used to be an active committee member for every single graduation ceremony.

It's so different now having to attend TOA's graduation ceremony as a guest instead of a crew.

Here are some of the pictures i treasure.

Pre-event:

Went shoe-hunting a day before the event. Bought this lovely pair of gold stilettos from Cats Whiskers. Peep toe shoes are da bomb!

Seeing that i've been over-spending the last few weeks, i wasnt keen to set my hair and spend another RM70+. So I DIY-ed my hair instead. Nice hor?

During the event:

My lovely sisters..Claudine and Caryn. Caryn and her frens are outside the hall awaiting instructions to march in...

Introducing the graduates of April 06

L-R: Shin Ying, Evonne, sis, Tina, Howard, and Lynda (she's the President of their batch). Lynda gave a very impressive and touching speech that night. Our family was so proud of her. She's Caryn's very close fren and we knew her eons ago.

According to my sis, her frens are all cam-whores..as soon as someone takes out the camera, they're all ready and posing... Yups, i so agree, cos i didn't need to say anything at all, these ppl just got the cue and posed maut as soon as i try to snap a picture of my sis.

Hahaha! Posing with these plush toys can be pretty infectious. Look...the bro is posing with Mr moo moo now!! Oh YES, we were really bored to death waiting for the convo to commence.

Caryn's supporters: Calvin, Ken (her bf), Sook Yee. They came loaded with flowers and plush toys.

Sweet memories...

We were quite paiseh (shy) at first. Bringing so many pressies (see those balloons..oh gosh!), flowers, etc in... Dad was such a good sport. He was proudly ferrying the piggy (McDull) around...hehe, so cute!

Caryn and Ken and all the dan lain lain - kawan kawan sekalian...

The lecturer...

Doesnt this guy look familiar to you? He's Christopher Low. You would have seen him in the "I Wanna Be a Model" series as he's one of the regular judges. He's my sister's guest lecturer. Heard that lotsa gals love attending his photography classes cos he's so damn lengchai..

Seeing that sis was with him, I went up to them and chatted this guy up and took a picture opportunity with him...

After the ceremony, sis and her frens proceeded to party the nite away while the rest of the family decided to call it a nite...

Congratulations once again dear sister! You go girl!

Post event:
Came home and removed those hair pins on my head. I was so surpised that my hair was curling rather prettily. HmmmMmm.. I'm quite tempted to go perm my hair again... You see, i cut off all those curls in Sept when i went for my highlights.

nice? i likes la!

Ze month of great indulgence - Edwin's birthday

Ze month of great indulgence - Edwin's bday
Shortly after the masquerade ball, came Edwin's birthday.

We went to our fave Korean restaurant in Hartamas for Korean BBQ.

We absolutely love this place as it's so friendly, cosy and never too overwhelming.

This lovely place is: Daorae Garden, No 9-1 Floor, Plaza Crystal Ville Center, Jalan 23/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas. Tel: 03-6203 2616.

Not gonna talk much. Will let the pictures tell the story..

The birthday boy striking a lansi pose..

It was close to 9pm when we were there...and there are still lotsa ppl coming in. Mostly Koreans. This is as authentic as it can get la.

This is the place where the grill will be put...damn oily...

For starters: we were served this salad with wasabi-like sauce.

and clam soup with super ultra huge taugeh (bean sprouts).

we ordered 2 sets of meat: pork slices, and chicken marinated in spicy sauce... our favourite is always the pork slices..damn the sweet!

flipping the pork over...

look at all these lovely side dishes, arent they just amazing?!? that's one reason why i love korean food so much. i love variety and having so many of these side dishes allow me to nibble here n there without having to over-eat. hehe

Edwin contemplating which dish to try...

some of my fave dishes: the potato salad, mushrooms, spicy marinated tofu. MmmmMmm

yes, must rub rub the onion on the grill to make the pork more fragrant and sweet.

almost done..woohoo!

The birthday boy will demonstrate how to make the pork roll.

Step 1: Take a slice (or a few slices) of lettuce.

Step 2: Fold the lettuce into half..

Step 3: spread some spicy bean paste on the leaves.

Step 4: top with some zahari

This is zahari (i hope i got the name right). It's a vinegared salad which has coriander, spring onions and other leafy mixed. It smells really good. I find it very appetizing, so good even on its own.

Step 5: add pork strips and onions..

Step 6: add some garlics if you like...to make it spicier..

Step 7: top up with a tiny spoonful of the sesame oil mixture..

This sesame oil mixture is pretty interesting. It tastes salty and sweet, yet the smell of sesame isnt lost.

Final step: Fold/tuck everything together neatly. Careful though, it can get pretty messy, what with the gravy and all.

It's makan time!

Once the pork slices are all gone, we moved on to our chicken.

Same style of eating for the chicken. The marinated chicken wasnt spicy enough for me. I find the taste very similar to our local "satay". I think i'm gonna order only pork next time, like how we used to... 2 sets of pork please!
