Crazy 4 cupcakes

I'm really really stressed out.

I'm so damn sick of covering ppl's asses.

I think I'm getting an allergy soon. Oh wait, it's here already, it's just that it's getting more serious.

I am allergic to "idiots at work". And like they say, "Working with idiots can kill you". I am.. literally dying..

Over and over, you've been doing this to me. Stop giving me last minute shits and expect me to cover up for you. And don't give me this, "You've got better English and you're the communication person, therefore please help us to write these....".
Hey, you mean, no one in your department can write ar? Can't they write and pass to me to vet through? Excuses excuses..tsk tsk.
And failure to plan on your part does not constitute urgency on my part! I am so tempted to tell this to your face. Cos you guys have been asking me to help out and finish stuff for you at the last minute. But it is never reciprocated when I requested for you to provide me with info so that I can do my press releases.

OK, enough ranting....

Let me talk about something I enjoy.

Anyway, I took the day off work on Wednesday, to chill and recollect myself. And as you would have known by now, I usually chill by doing things - be it cooking, baking, making some fancy jewelleries, arts n crafts, etc.

I decided to practice my piping skills. (remember i had difficulties piping correctly when I attended my cupcake deco class?).

Headed off to buy the ingredients - bought cupcake pre-mixed (orange and poppy seed - my favourite flavour), icing sugar, butter, chocolate + rainbow sprinkles, rainbow stars, sugar crystals, colourings + essences, etc. Those only cost me about RM43.

The real killer was actually the tools. I bought 2 tips (large star tip #21, and flower drop tip), cupcake cups of various sizes, cake boxes, piping bags, and couplers. Those sucked me dry by RM70.

Orange and poppy seeds cuppacakes! MMmm...

My very first creation. :P

I used this recipe to make the buttercream icing:
170g unsalted butter, 2 cups of icing sugar, a large pinch of salt, 1.5 tbs water or milk, 1/4 tsp vanilla essence.

Fold icing sugar into the butter and blend. Blend all ingredients at high speed. You may add colourings to play with colours.

Pipe using star tip #21

Added sugar crystals

I used the same tip to create a swirl.

Added some rainbow stars...

I baked some mini cuppacakes too.
Sorry about the flower, it looks pretty badly drawn. I used tip #3 to draw the flowers.
I ran some raspberry jam to make it more liquid. Then I glazed it on the cuppacakes.

The rest of the cupcakes...

This one was pretty sad..I smudged the cream while transferring. :p
Therefore, the ugly part is not shown here..

The larger cupcakes...

The bite size mini cupcakes...

My labour of love :)

Yups, to some of you, these are probably fugly... :P

Gimme a chance ppl, it's my first time :)

I've actually brought these back to my late grandma's house the next day for my lil cousins. We all went back to pray at pohpoh's tomb to mark her 100th day of departure. I brought two cupcakes and laid them on her tomb during prayer.

I miss her lots...and I pray that she's in a good place now.

It's a Girl Thing!

I went out with Shukz last weekend. Yups, that was the only week I didn't have to work :). And I'm seriously dreading this coming weekend.. Perpetual work work work..bah!

Anyway, Shukz and I decided to check out "It's a Girl Thing" at KL Convention Centre.

Since most roads have been blocked or closed - Jalan Ampang for one - we decided to take the LRT there.

You see, the 2 of us don't commute much, so we were like, "this better be worth it".

We loaded ourselves with cash in the hope to do some serious shopping there. Brands like Mooie, Shoes Shoes Shoes, MyDressRoom, were all gonna be there.

First we saw this banner...

Then we saw this banner right after the It's a Girl Thing banner.

We had to decide which exhibition we should be attending. Afterall, one will make us splurge. Whereas the other will help us to make the right investment and save money.

Decisions decisions.

But we were like, "what the hell? do we look like we wanna attend some smart investment talks? duh"

There, we made our decision. And we're going for the shopping, fashion, beauty thing.

Upon entering, we were disappointed. The place looked dead. It was quiet and the booths didnt look too happening. The clothes from Mooie and MyDressRoom looked ughh..Selection was small and seriously uninteresting.

The only booth that was flourishing was the ntv7/mixed fm. I guess they were having some sort of audition or freebies give-away.

Also, banks like Citibank, Standard Chartered, etc were really aggresive out there. We were approached a gazillion times to sign up for new credit cards.

The make up booths available. We decided to give it a skip cos the brands were a bit lap-sap.
Without wasting any time, we headed back to KLCC.

The whole thing was a FLOP if you asked me.

My purchases from the event was a magazine and a sports bra from My Dance studio.
How pathetic.

We headed to Dome (our usual) for a quick drink. As I haven't eaten I grabbed a bite as well.

This is the club sandwich I ordered. Guilt trip kao kao

Deprived of proper shopping, we headed straight to Paul & Joe to buy some decent and pretty make ups.

The promotion for this season is this: Purchase RM500 and above worth of Paul & Joe's products and you'll receive this limited edition trolley bag, clutch bag, a cute handbag with Paul & Joe's signature design, as well as a set of samples.

We love P & J's stuff. They are so so pretty.

These are my purchases from Paul & Joe. I know, i still have like 10 new eye shadows (from Estee Lauder), 6 blushers (Anna Sui and Estee Lauder), and 5 lippies. I shouldn't even be looking at make ups at all!

Shukz and I figured that we're bad for each other. She ended up buying even more.

I bought this Victorian blouse from G2000. Finally found a white blouse that fits well. Love it.
G2000 is having sale now. However, this lovely piece is not on sale. Still, go quick if you wanna grab size 3.

Our Girls' Day Out was fun, minus the It's a Girl Thing event of course. We managed to catch up and do some planning for Shukz wedding. She's bestowed me with the honour to be her emcee for the night. I'm thrilled and a tad bit nervous at the same time.

Better get back on my herbalife diet soon. :)

Bee's birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEE!!!
We went to Neway Karaoke to celebrate Bee's bday last night.

It was great to once again catch up with my ol buddies. :)

It would have been even greater if Dora could join us. She's actually in KL for her company's annual trip (she now lives with her hubby, Kouk Wai in JB and she works in Spore).

However, she couldn't escape from her colleagues nor the planned itinerary as she has planned earlier.

Sigh..so close yet so far.

I was really touched when CS passed me this package from Dora (she passed it to Yong Yee few months back).

In it contained a square of Ritter Sport chocolate (yoghurt flavour), a bar of Tim Tam's Pink Wish (this new luscious strawberry filled flavour is create to raise fund for the Breast Cancer foundation. Hence the pink colour), a cute postcard with sweet messages to remind me of my naughty days :P, and a cupcake recipe book. Oh wow, you know me so well girl!

Thanks for such thoughful gifts dear!

My pressies from Dora and KW: a book containing 500 ideas for cupcakes & muffins ~wooHoOo, Tim Tam Pink Wish, Ritter Sport chocs, and a sweet message. :)

I felt like the luckiest gal yesterday. Firstly, I received this pair of beautiful earrings from Alice. I love love love the design. Thanks babe!

Then, I finally received the ethnic-looking earrings which Rahul bought for me from India (yups, he went back to India for Diwali). I actually "tumpang-ed" him to get me a set of ethnic necklace + earrings. But since his return, he's been busy and of the times I met him...he also seemed to forget about bringing the earrings to work (he couldnt find any nice necklaces for me).

Yeah, so it was double triple joy for me!

Thanks dude! They are absolutely stunning! *beam beam beam*

Oops..before I digress any further..

Let's get back to Bee's bday.

Bee and YY were the first ones to arrive. As you can see, they were both famished. So they attacked the buffet table and whacked the food while waiting for us.

When I arrived, I asked, "Eh, why aren't you guys singing?". They answered, "Eat first la..damn hungry la!"

And I happily followed suit.

The spread at the buffet table looked rather well presented...BUT the food was really OK only. Well, you can't expect much from a karaoke joint can ya?

And so the singing marathon began...
YY hates it whenever I post her pictures on my blog. Here, she's trying her best to avoid the camera. :P (CS laughing at her?)

Bee camwhoring, while YY is avoiding the camera again..and CS is fueling himself. He's the best singer in the group..Heck, the best in the entire TOA.

Ten (Bee's hubby) joined us later. He loves singing Eason Chan's and Jackie Cheung's songs. And boy, he does sound like them.

Very kan cheong already...

I feel very cheated whenever we are forced to pay for all those extras. This fruit platter cost us RM20. And for every 4 persons, it's compulsory to order one platter. Since there were 5 of us, they gave us 2. And what's more, we had like 3 or 4 bowls of nuts/crackers, each at RM9. Damn cut throat man!

Man, the celery was so damn dry! *kena conned again!*

I've actually recorded some videos of my buddies doing their thing (singing la, what else?). They very well deserve the titles "K Kings" and "K Queens".

I'm really contemplating whether I should post those up..

CS can ar? Ten can or not? Girls? :P
