Thai Bazaar @ Carrefour Subang

I normally pass Carrefour (Subang) on my way to the gym. And I recently noticed that there are tents set up outside the main entrance.

As I was walking pass, I noticed the unmistakable smell of tomyam. And i saw lotsa fresh veges in a basket....those look like Som Tam ingredients I thought. To my utter delight, there's a food stall selling authentic tomyam food.

For 2 nights in a row (after my gym classes), I went there to tapau (pack) Som Tam and the Mango glutinous rice. Very very addictive.

The somtams are freshly made on the spot.

This aunty now resides in Puchong. She hails from Hatyai.

She added anchovies in her somtams.

By 9pm, her glutinous rice would be gone.

And since we were working last Sat, I brought Christine and Alice to have lunch there. We tried their tomyam noodle. Fantastic even if it's just heat up (the auntie selling the fare said they're not allowed to do proper cooking at the stall, they can only heat up the food).

RM5 for this bowl of seafood tomyam.
Since then, I have gone back to have their tomyam again cos i have constant craving for tomyam.

Fresh coconuts are perfect antidote for a hot day. RM4 each.

Digressing...

Have you seen this before? I'm sure most of you are familiar with this ol skool Snake Brand Prickly Heat Powder. Seeing this reminded me of my grandma. I used to see this snake powder at her place last time and I never really liked the strong medicated smell.

Well, I was most surprised to see that they now packaged this so prettily. And..it's lavender scented. I felt compelled to buy this. Partly cos it looks so pretty (i love all things lilac), and there's a nostalgic feel to this whole prickly heat powder thingy. Maybe I wanna have something that's familiar to my grandma close to me.

Honestly, I didn't know Snake Brand has many different types of powders.
