Malayali fish curry

~*~*Malayali fish curry*~*~*~

This one is for all fish curry lovers out there..

Got this recipe for my colleague Sarah, who got them from her mother-in-law who hails from Malayali (a region in India).

I tried this out last week. And these are the comments I got so far “Wow, damn good man! Better than those in restaurant!”, “The curry is damn yummy…but the problem is there is not enough rice to go with it..all gone!”, “Very good curry girl. You make this dish next time we have a party ok?”. Positive responses all the way man! =)

Sounds delicious? Wait till u try them out…

It’s quite simple to DIY. And I’m gonna share it with u… :D

Here’s how you do it.

Ingredients

Fish cutlets
Chilli powder
Tumeric powder (kunyit)
Mustard seeds
Curry leaves
One big white onion
3 packets of coconut milk (fresh ones from the market if possible)
Green chilli
Red chilli
Lime
Tomatoes
Sugar
Salt

Make a thick paste out of chilli powder, tumeric powder and salt. Marinade the fish cutlets in this (overnight in the fridge is best).

Fry the marinated fish cutlets in hot oil and set aside- might want to put it on disposable kitchen towelettes so that it absorbs the oil.

Panfry the white onions, curry leaves and mustard seeds until the onions are glassy. Add in tumeric powder and tumis. Add in coconut milk, salt and sugar and lime to taste. Add in sliced tomatoes.... not for too long though or they will disintegrate. Pour it over the fried fish and viola!

Have fun with this new recipe :D

~*~*Australia's Next Top Model*~*~
My grand-daughter, Xiao Huan (aka Snowy) got enrolled in a doggy modelling contest by her mummy, Tiffany.
Tiff keeps me updated by sending me XiaoHuan's diary...
****************************************************************************
Dear diary,
Today, mummy signed me up for some kinda contest. I dunno wat it is but mummy made a big fuss grooming me.

Me and mummy wearing our winter knits! It's so cold here in Melbourne.

Mummy put on so many hairclips on my head...gosh! look at all my bling-blings!!

Mummy tried different hairstyles on me..
Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the prettiest of them all?

In the waiting hall, awaiting my turn for the modelling contest interview shoot. i dunno why but i felt somethin in my tummy..Mummy said i've butterflies in my stomache..ewwww!!

Mummy taught me some breathing techniques. She also advised me to "believe in myself". Mummy said i'll be able to pose better when i'm relax..She qouted Tyra Bank wor.

*breathe in* *breathe out*

Gotta distract myself. So i picked up some mags and tried to learn a few tricks on how pose like those models! :p

*yawn* I'm so bored... and sleepy. Wats wif the weather lately? I'm freeeeeezzzing!

My turn already? Goody! :D

"Great shot!" I heard the photographer said. yay!!

Me striking my signature pose. Am i cute or wat?

Mr photographer said i have "expressive eyes" (actually i was sleepy). hehe...
Mummy was so proud, "you rock gal!". :D

More poses...

i can't believe it! I made it! I'm now Australia's next top model.

i won A$10k worth of doggy calendar covergal contract. Was sponsored 1 year free supply of food and grooming. Mummy & daddy were so thrilled!

*If you dun see a bag you fancy, you can actually send a request and let them know what sorta bags you're after and they'll see to it.

Bad news?

*You can only borrow ONE bag at a time. =(

*If you've fallen in lurve with your bag and it's too darn expensive to buy, you have no choice but to either keep it (but this means you dun get to borrow other bags!) or return it..or simply save enough to buy it off them!

*You damage, you pay! Replacement fee is anywhere from $500 - 2000.

*Limited collection, though it's still growing.

*The bags you wanna borrow may not be available as it may be with someone else.

*You are charged a shipping fee of $14.95 everytime they courier a new bag to you. (guess this fee only applies in Singapore)

*I'm not a Singaporean! Just emailed them and found out that they have to determine the taxes for sending the bags to Msia. Also, I need to pay a security deposit on top of those extra charges! Damn!

Quick..someone in Msia pls start one so that I can borrow these bags and keep the shipping fee to a minimum.

I miss my Ginger

~*~*~*I miss my Ginger*~*~*~

Ginger when she was a kitten

Ginger girl, where are you?

Daddy and mummy here miss you so so much dearie. Your kittens too. We have named the kittens for you. They are : Ruby, Cyon aka Princess, Goldie, and Pinko.

Ginger and her babies: Ruby, Cyon, Goldie, Pinko

Ginger is a mummy now. Breast size: Double D!!

Do you know that they all resemble you so much? It's simply difficult trying to tell them apart. Only you know which kitten is which.

Everytime I look at them, I think of you.

Girl girl, you left home on the 2nd June 2006, and it's been 2 mths now.

Oh, where are you? It's not like you to leave home, go about wandering and not returning. You always come home after you've done your social calls. But why not this time?

At times, your daddy and I joke that it's the fact that you're sick and tired of caring for the kittens that you have decided to elope with your bf and leave us here. But we dun think so as you are such a doting mummy. Never once did you leave your kittens alone since they were borned. You have been by their side day and nite. And you were so loving towards them. Your kittens simply adore you. Ginger gal, being a mother comes so naturally to you.

Edwin daddy, Husky korkor with Ginger gal
Truly, we miss your love and affection girl. Husky korkor misses you too.

He's a little quiet and withdrawn nowadays. It brings back fond memories everytime I think of the two of you.

You love playing with Husky's tail and scratching his bumbum, and this korkor of yours always act macho and appear indifferent (maybe blur even) though I know he enjoys your company very much.

Your daddy and Husky have been searching the whole neighbourhood for you. The fact that we did not find anything that we "dun wanna see" gives us hope. I cannot imagine finding your collar on the road, I think I would be very very devastated.

We hope that somehow, in some way, someone must have found you so cute and adopted you. i like to think that perhaps you cannot find your way home...Maybe you're very comfortable there.

Gin girl, your daddy will be shifting at the end of this month. We really hope that you'll be able to come home before he moves. We have already delayed this shift by one month for fear that when you return and look for us, we're no longer there.

Girl girl, wherever you are, I pray that the Lord will keep you safe. All that matters to me now is that you're well and happy.

I love you Ginger. Always.
