RIP Lydia Sum

I was disheartened when I heard the news about HK TVB veteran actress, Lydia Sum's demise.

I was watching Astro last night where a special tribute was paid to her by her peers. I was reduced to tears by the end of the programme as it was just so so touching.

Such a sad ending for someone's who has been such a strong character all her life. She started acting as a teenager soon became popular despite being overweight because of her good spirit, comedy talent and enormous energy.

This is a picture of Lydia Sum when she made a heartwarming return to the stage during the 40th TVB Anniversary Awards ceremony in Hong Kong.

She was wheeled out on stage towards the end of the show to accept the TVB Grand Award at the Hong Kong equivalent of America's Emmys. Decked out in a cheery pink outfit, complete with her signature wig and plastic-framed glasses, the beloved comedienne was a heart-wrenching shadow of her former rotund self. Gone were her jolly cheeks and hearty laughter.

I will miss watching her on tv, especially her signature wing-tip frame coke bottle glasses.
