Breathtaking Bangkok - Part 2

~*~*~*Breathtaking Bangkok - Part 2*~*~*~
Saturday, 24th March 07

We were all damn happy with our 50 baht nail art manicure. =)

Breakfast before heading off to Chatuchak market..

Taking the BTS to Mo Chit station (Chatuchak market).

Huge carpark eh? Just look at the amount of cars parked here at Mo Chit station. Some cars were blocked, i wonder how they're gonna reverse out.

Approaching the entrance to Chatuchak...it's obvious that there are more cabs than cars here in Bangkok.

I'm so fascinated with pink cabs! What more a pink Hello Kitty one!

You've gotta see it to believe it. This market is meGA huGE! We're talking about more than a thousand stalls here. Yups, get a map if you must.

Not every stall here is interesting though. You get to see a lot of the same things sold in different stalls, after a while it can be pretty boring. And the vendors here are so used to us tourists already, they have mastered the art of negotiation and really, do not really give very good discounts. I still prefer the bazaar outside Gaysorn and CentralWorld.

But still, if this is your first time to Bangkok, Chatuchak is a must see.

They sell everything here, from food, clothings, accessories, to pets.

This cool punk was very friendly. He's actually blind and after knowing that we're Msians, he spoke to us in Malay. He was quite scary looking at first, there's a skull of an animal on his left shoulder.

Cool Adidas Adidogs tee!

Puma ---> Tuna

The food at Chatuchak..

Super large asam jawa

The fried delicacies..
Bought these prawn toast for 20 baht

What cute mini eggs (should be quail eggs)

Thai bbq skewers for RM0.50 a stick. Super value for money!

The lime juice was super salty *yucks*. The chrysanthemum was brown, damn de-colourised. Dun buy your drinks from this lady!

Next time you go Chatuchak, please wear your skimpiest clothings. This place is super hot!

Caryn and Ken ordering some ice cream sticks.

It took the lady less than 10 mins to prepare ice creams for us. Just tell her which flavour you want : orange, coke, lychee, mirinda, etc, and she'll pour the soft drinks into these round metal holders. And voila..ice creams!

3 baht for a stick. We all had coloured tongues after that. :P

Time for some real food.....

There are lotsa food stalls here. The thing is, being tourists, you can never really tell which ones are good, esp if you can't speak the language.

So we look-see around, found this one with English menu and we sat down. We were quick tired of pointing and doing the body language thing already. We just wanted a nice bowl of authentic tomyum noodle.

While waiting for our noodles, we whacked the prawn toasts and skewers.

Gelojoh!

Peanut pieces in tomyum noodles. Not what you'd expect eh?

We were so tired and sweaty from all these outdoor shopping. We escaped to Ma Boon Krong (MBK) Center for a more decent shopping environment.

See? i told you, there are cabs everywhere!

Not bad. Their safe sex campaign is definitely more effective than ours. You can buy condoms for 10 baht.

We checked out their Mckers..

Sawasdee ka

McFlurry for 19 baht (was 29). Cheap. And they've got funky flavours too!

1 milo float, 3 Mcflurry - oreo, luv you berry much, choc luv, 2 Taro pies

i luv you berry much too! love the cornflakes inside!

i absolutely melted at the taste of the taro pie. Absolutely to-die-for. It's a must have! And if you do go Bkk, please tapau one for me on your way back! I'm serious. Make that 3 pies.

After MBK, i went to Erawan area to shop at Boots. Bought a bag full of hair treatment creams and jars of body butter. It was so heavy, i had a difficult time carrying all my stuff, and here in Bkk, there are lotsa stairs for you to climb. Absolute torture!

Thai Barbeque @ Pratunam...

This makan place is hidden in a side alley, near Big C shopping centre. I was pretty surprised that i can find this place esp since there's been some major construction going on.. =)

The top of the plate is dry for grilling. And the bottom is covered with yummilicious soup.

1 set = 200 baht. We ordered 2 sets. The pork is really well marinated. Tastes much nicer than what BBQ Plaza is offering.

I miss these sauces so much. The green one is super duper killer SPICY!

Kenny couldnt tahan the spiciness. He was quiet the entire time during dinner. Damn good! =)

And off we went to collect Ken's suit.

Not bad at all...

Now, let's compare..

BEFORE...

AFTER...

George Custom Tailors
9-11 Sukhumvit Road, Soi 15,
Near Manhattan Hotel.
Tel: 0-2255 3397
Email:
george@georgetailor.com
www.georgetailor.com

Take BTS to Nana station. And take the exit which will lead you to Soi 15. Soi = road.

We were rushing from one appointment to another.

Amaltery will be closing at 11pm. We left George's at 10:15pm. George gave us really good service, he ordered a cab for us and spoke to the cabbie to bring us to Camp Davis (it would be hell trying to walk and find the place. Got this information from the net which says that Camp Davis is near Emporium..in actual fact..it'll take at least 15 mins to walk there, if you know the way!)

Reached Camp Davis at 10:30pm. The whole area has a very 'up-market' feel to it. I'd love to come back and chill here.

At the Entrance to Amaltery ice cream..

Love the chic and simple deco

Claudine and i shared 2 scoops of : Strawberry Margarita and White Chocolate Calvado. The white choc ice cream is damn strong. I was getting a high after a few spoonfuls.

Caryn and Ken's order: Kamikaze (blue) and Malibu Dream

These stuffs are wicked!

There are over 30 varieties of home-made cocktail ice creams here. From common concoctions like Margarita, Long Island Iced Tea, Sex on the Beach, Screaming Orgasm, Sangria, Midnight Mojito as well as non-alcoholic alternative like "Virgin" - which tastes a little like fresh milk, only creamier.

Outside the restrooms. The interior looks like those you find in clubs. Very funky. Now, take the stairs up to check out some cool boutiques.

This massage parlour charges a 60 mins body massage for only 300 baht. Very similar to market rate, and this place looks chic!

Cross this bridge to go check up this happenin club.

The club was pumping with hip hop music. See the pink neon sign there? That's the club la.

Amaltery ice cream
88/6 Camp Davis,
Sukhumvit Soi 24
(You can either take BTS to Phrom Phong station: Soi 24 is right beside Emporium Shopping Complex. My suggestion: take a cab to Camp Davis, which is next to Davis Hotel).

Yups, you guessed right. We went for supper at Mckers again!

McHappy meal...McToys!

Ken ordered 3 burgers for himself. Siao.
He ordered a double teriyaki pork burger, a black pepper chicken burger, and fish burger, as well as 2 taro pies.

Wonder if he's gonna be able to fit into his suit. LOL!

Why dun we have McWings here?

Sis and i shared a "Fantastic McRice burger"

McRice is pretty similar to MOS burger la. Okie okie only.

Someone stoning after a long day.

It was a really long day for us and we were totally drained. My feet took a lot of crap that day.

Initially, we wanted to go to Suan Lum night bazaar, which is near Lumpini Park. However, it was already closed to 12am when we were done. And the night bazaar closes at 12am every night. The sad thing is, this bazaar will no longer be in operation effective end April this year.

So, if you're goin Bkk anytime now, do make a trip there and lemme know how it goes. =)
